Your Questions About Portland Walkings Answered

Find answers to common questions about our free walking tours in Portland — including accessibility, weather, kids, pets and booking info.

Everything you need to know before you walk.

Have a question? You’re probably not the first to ask — here are our most common inquiries, answered clearly and honestly.

Is the tour really free?

Yes! All of our public walking tours are 100% free to join. We operate on a tip-based model, so if you enjoy the tour and want to show your appreciation, a tip of any amount is always welcome — but never required.

What if it rains?

Portland and drizzle go hand-in-hand — so our tours run rain or shine!
We recommend bringing a jacket or umbrella, and we’ll make adjustments to the route if the weather gets wild. If conditions become unsafe, we’ll contact you in advance about rescheduling.

Are the tours accessible?

Most of our routes are wheelchair- and stroller-friendly, using sidewalks and flat terrain. If you have specific accessibility needs, just let us know in advance — we’re happy to adjust the pace or route where possible.

Can I bring kids or pets?

Absolutely!

  • Kids: Tours are family-friendly, and we do our best to keep stories engaging for younger walkers.

  • Pets: Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome on most tours. Just give us a heads-up if you’re bringing a furry friend.

Can I join without booking?

We strongly recommend reserving your spot online, especially on weekends or during summer months when tours fill up fast.
That said, walk-ups are welcome if space allows — just check in with the guide at the meeting point a few minutes early.
